Making a digital connection across the atlantic
The final leg of my grad school journey took me across the ocean to the Russian city of Pskov. I was able to make this trip as part of the course ECI 509: Special Problems in Curriculum & Instruction--Building Digital Bridges to Increase Cultural Understanding. I was in Russia for three weeks, two of which were spent in School 23 observing, teaching, and serving as the 'American on display.' However, my primary purpose in going was to attempt to electronically connect a group of students there with some of my students back in North Carolina. This was finally accomplished through a wiki and the dedicated efforts of one of the English language teachers at the school there. It was a challenge in many ways, which I have detailed in this report on the experience.
